Liquorice root

Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) may trigger **IgE-mediated allergy** in sensitive individuals, with symptoms ranging from contact dermatitis to asthma or anaphylaxis (rare). Cross-reactivity with legumes (e.g., peanuts, soy) or birch pollen-related foods (e.g., apples) is documented but uncommon. High consumption may also cause pseudoaldosteronism (non-allergic).
