Safflower

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) may trigger IgE-mediated allergy, primarily via seed proteins. Rare but documented cases include urticaria, asthma, or anaphylaxis. Cross-reactivity with other Compositae family plants (e.g., sunflower, ragweed) possible. Oil refining typically removes most allergenic proteins, but traces may remain in cold-pressed oils.
