Onion

Onions (Allium cepa) contain thiols and profilin (All c 3), triggering oral allergy syndrome (OAS) or contact dermatitis, especially in birch pollen-allergic individuals. Rarely causes anaphylaxis. Cross-reacts with garlic, leeks, and mugwort pollen.

Symptoms

  • Skin Rash or Hives
  • Itching or swelling of the lips, face, or throat
  • Digestive issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
  • Shortness of breath or wheezing
  • Anaphylaxis (Severe Allergic Reaction)
