The Pareto principle, also known as the 80/20 method, is becoming an increasingly popular tool that can be applied in the realm of nutrition. In the context of diet, it means that the key to success lies in the ability to maintain balance in meals. Achieving a healthy lifestyle does not have to involve drastic restrictions. It is enough that 80% of the consumed food is wholesome, and 20% includes products commonly referred to as recreational. Such an approach not only facilitates maintaining healthy habits but also makes eating a pleasure, not an obligation.
How should 80% of the diet appear
80% of the diet, in accordance with the 80/20 rule, should be composed of minimally processed, high-quality food items. Among the most significant are: vegetables and fruits: they should constitute the foundation of the daily diet. It is advised to consume at least 400 g daily, preferably with vegetables. It is worth trying to consume them in various colors to supply the body with different vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They should be eaten raw or steamed or baked to maintain the maximum nutritional value.
