The diet recommended to healthy women and men does not exhibit significant differences in its fundamental principles, however, there are certain matters that must be viewed differently depending on the season and sex during nutrition planning.
Concurrences in the nutrition of females and males
For a healthy individual who is not an athlete, the recommended amount of protein should be approximately 1 g/kg of body weight, regardless of gender. Carbohydrates should provide about 50% of daily energy needs, and fats around 30-35%. In the subsequent parts of this article, the basic concurrences between recommendations concerning daily intake of nutrients, irrespective of sex, will be presented. It is worth noting that over the past years, an increasing number of publications have appeared on the similar reactions of the female and male body to specific dietary components, the mechanisms of their absorption from the digestive tract, and the similar tendency towards the occurrence of certain metabolic problems. It can be assumed that in the coming decades, the concurrences in recommendations will become even more pronounced for both genders.
