Instinctual nutrition - what is it?
Instinctual nutrition is a concept coined in 1995 by two American dieticians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. It is becoming increasingly popular today. Its main premise is to give up excessive dietary restrictions and focus on the signals sent by the body, which will allow it to satisfy its needs by eating in the best possible way. The whole theory is based on 10 most important diets. Their transition is to help in giving up fast diets as well as providing adequate, tailored nutrition to individual needs. A very important aspect of instinctual nutrition is conscious eating of meals. Studies show that this is one of the best methods to control emotional and compulsive eating habits (J. M. Warren, N. Smith, M. Ashewll 2017). The approach of attention can also counteract weight gain. Instinctual nutrition consists of four main components: - unconditional permission to eat, - consuming food for physiological reasons (not emotional), - relying on hunger and satiety signals, - choosing health-beneficial products.
