The craving for sweets affects most people. It is difficult to resist, therefore it is advisable to utilize dried fruits to satiate this longing in a healthy manner.
Why do we prefer sweet taste?
Sweet taste is generally associated with satisfaction. Foods high in sugar are highly caloric and provide necessary energy. When access to food was limited, people sought products that contained a large number of calories in small quantities. Moreover, sweet taste, which is perceived as pleasant, usually indicates the suitability of the product for consumption. Bitter flavors most often indicate contamination of food. Taste preferences can vary between people and can change over the course of a person's life. It has a genetic basis. Different genetic variants that encode sweet taste receptors determine different preferences. In rats that lack these genes, the response to sweet taste completely disappears. In humans, changes in single amino acids in proteins that are sweet taste receptors can also lead to changes in the signal transduction triggered by taste stimuli. Individuals who do not perceive the taste of sweetness are very rare. This article is intended for people who sometimes (or even more often) feel like eating something sweet. In that case, it's better to choose dried fruits!
