A picnic is one of the most delightful ways to spend time outdoors - it promotes relaxation and allows for a break from the daily routine. It can also be an opportunity to look after your health by consciously selecting snacks. A meticulously prepared meal during a picnic can provide all the essential nutrients, be easily digestible, delicious and visually appealing. The key to success lies in the thoughtful assembling of the dishes.
How to devise a picnic meal plan
It is recommended to start with ensuring a proper balance between the meals. Each snack should not only be a source of energy, but also provide full-fledged protein, unsaturated fatty acids, complex carbohydrates, fiber and micronutrients. Therefore, unprocessed or minimally processed products such as fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grain bread, grains, leguminous seeds, lean meat, eggs, fermented dairy products and nuts should form the basis of the composition. It is advisable to avoid dishes with mayonnaise, ready-made sauces, fatty cold cuts, sweet breads and prepared snacks.
