The global dietary market is valued at hundreds of billions of dollars. However, the idea of accepting the body regardless of size is increasingly being observed. One such idea is a movement known as health in every shape (HAES), which has gained more popularity in the United States than in Poland.
Is this truly the movement accepting health at every size?
Accepting health at every size is a form of public health engagement that emerged in 1990 in response to reports that conscious weight loss does not have long-term effects and may be associated with negative consequences for physical and mental health. This movement promotes an open and 'anti-diet' approach that aims to support individuals with excess body weight in caring for their health without needing to reduce their body weight. A key aspect of this approach is finding meaning and purpose in life, rather than losing excess pounds through restrictive diets and strenuous exercise. The creators of this movement have also developed guidelines that should be applied by all healthcare professionals to support patients in achieving complete physical, mental, spiritual, and economic health.
