In our rapidly evolving world, where processed food and fast food are easily accessible, maintaining a healthy and sustainable diet can pose a challenge. Therefore, one of the most beneficial steps one can take in order to improve health and well-being is to increase vegetable intake and reduce meat consumption in the diet. Although most people are aware of the benefits of making this small change, they often lack motivation or ideas on how to implement it.
Include blended beverages and smoothies in the menu
Blended drinks are an excellent option for individuals who wish to increase their vegetable consumption, but may not prefer consuming them in traditional ways or lack sufficient time to prepare meals. They are an ideal alternative to snacks in the form of sandwiches. The primary advantage of these beverages is the ability to combine various ingredients into one drink. Spinach, mint, peanut butter, jam, lettuce, or even broccoli - all these vegetables can be added to a smoothie without the need for extensive cooking or laborious meal preparation. Simply add your preferred vegetables to a blender, add fruits such as bananas or berries, a small amount of liquid (water, milk, plant-based drink), healthy fat sources (avocado, nuts, seeds, kernels, nut butter), and proteins (e.g., yogurt, kefir, or protein powder) and blend everything together.
