Since commencing my training, I have noticed the same problem affecting both beginners and those who train at a higher level. Essentially, the issue lies in choosing an incorrect repetition range that does not correspond with the natural muscle structure. People have always been unaware of their bodies, and unfortunately, they still are. The 12–10–8–6 method remains popular. Why is this training method not recommended? In this article, I will attempt to explain this in detail.
Systematic Foundations and Training Strategies: Theoretical and Practical Key Components
As defined in the *Dictionary of the Polish Language*, **training methodology** constitutes a systematic compilation of guidelines and procedural frameworks designed to optimize the execution of a given physical activity. Within the context of **strength training**, this activity translates into the meticulous planning and execution of a training session, accounting for both short- and long-term objectives. This discipline, as articulated by **Tudor Bompa**, encompasses a multitude of critical domains, including but not limited to:

It is imperative to emphasize that a comprehensive grasp of **training methodology** also necessitates **theoretical knowledge of exercise physiology** and **training periodization**; without these two components, even the most efficacious techniques may prove ineffective or counterproductive. While it is not mandatory for every recreational athlete to possess an in-depth understanding of all these facets, such knowledge significantly enhances self-awareness of progress and mitigates injury risk. **The onus of mastering this knowledge, however, rests squarely on personal trainers and strength-and-conditioning specialists**, as they are tasked with selecting appropriate methods tailored to the unique requirements of their clients.
In the realm of **resistance training**, the primary methodological objectives revolve around **enhancing maximal strength, explosive power, and muscular hypertrophy**. Each of these goals demands a distinct approach, as the employed techniques diverge in terms of parameters such as **repetition count, inter-set rest intervals, execution tempo, and exercise selection**. For the purposes of this article, however, the scope will be narrowed to a **single pivotal training parameter**—**the number of repetitions per set**—and its impact on achieved adaptations. It should be noted that the principles outlined herein may require adjustment for **elite athletes**, whose individual circumstances (genetic predispositions, health status, discipline-specific demands) often necessitate a **highly customized approach**
