The volumetric diet is a low-calorie eating approach that doesn't provide a ready-made regimen but encourages lasting changes in dietary habits. It focuses on consuming simple, flavorful meals made from natural ingredients. Research by nutritionist Barbara Rolls confirms its effectiveness. Can you really lose weight by eating large quantities of food?
Volume-based diet
The volumetric diet was created by dietitian Barbara Rolls of the Department of Food and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. It deals with the topic of weight loss in the aspect of food intake control in her scientific work. In the composition of the reduction diet, the American dietitian uses the concept of nutrient density, suggesting that foods with low nutritional density and low calorie intake can be consumed in greater quantities, which causes an early sense of satiety and the need to control the volume of meals, hence the name volumetry (volume).
