While this is a profitable approach for manufacturers, the critical question is whether these substances are safe for consumers or if excessive consumption poses health risks and whether reduction is advisable?
Food additives
Various substances are added to food to enhance the flavour and appeal of food products. They are also used to increase the durability of foodstuffs, maintain consistent quality and facilitate processing processes. Years ago, our grandparents used salt to preserve food, but during the 19th century, there were significant changes in the range of additives used in the food industry.
