Or could it be the endurance of the marathon runner or the speed at which the sprinter attains his maximum velocity? Physical strength – what is it truly and how can it be fostered? In literature, various types of strength are distinguished – general, specialized, speed, and maximal strength, although muscle endurance is also considered in the power test. Is it merely the ability to lift a heavy weight? In this article, I aim to discuss how and through which methods we develop our power.
The Impact of Force
Force is the capacity of the neuromuscular system to generate maximum physical force to lift the heaviest load and overcome external resistance. According to definition, not only muscles influence force, but also the nervous system. This is a crucial parameter, both for recreational athletes who want to meet the challenges of everyday life and for athletes whose development of force directly and indirectly improves all strength outcomes. It is important to understand the factors that affect force and how to develop it to increase comfort and safety in our lives and achieve optimal sports results.
