Easter is the time when we meet with our loved ones, so that nothing is missing on the Easter tables, the preparations begin a few days in advance. Half a bowl full of meat, baked goods and sausages, eggs in various variants or a few types of cakes are an essential part of Easter. The tables are overloaded with delicious dishes that tempt with their aroma. Even though guests are full, there is usually a lot of food left after the holidays that you don't know how to use. In order to avoid wasting food, it is worth using the leftovers from the holidays and giving them a new purpose.
Remnants after holidays: meat, sausages, processed meat
During holidays such as Easter, large quantities of processed meats, sausages, and baked or cooked meats are often prepared. These types of products can be used in many ways. Baked meat is ideal as an ingredient for sandwiches, but if there is too much, it can be cut into cubes and added to a salad or tortilla. Another solution is to prepare a sauce (e.g. mushroom sauce) and gently simmer it in thin slices of baked meat – it is a great dietary supplement. The meat can also be used in a machine and made into a filling for strawberries, pancakes, herbs, pies, or pastries. However, if time or ideas are lacking, it is worth remembering that baked meat or pâté can be frozen without any problems and later thought about their use. Processed meats are excellent as a side dish for toast, omelettes, scrambled eggs, pizza, salads, or savory pies. Although baked meat is resistant to spoilage, processed meats – especially poultry – are less so. Therefore, before reusing them, it is necessary to check if they are still suitable for consumption. White sausage is an essential product for Easter. If any is left after the holiday feast, it can be used to prepare soups such as sauerkraut, sorrel, or horseradish. It is also a good choice as a side dish for vegetable casserole, lecho, scrambled eggs, or risotto. Another option is to season it and bake it in the oven – it will then get a delicious crispy crust. A horseradish or mustard sauce can also be prepared and served for lunch with potatoes and salad.
