Aloes - a succinct overview

Aloes is a succulent plant that thrives in dry, hot desert climates. Its thick and fleshy leaves accumulate water and protect it from excessive loss due to evaporation. Inside the leaves are two main components with different properties. Right under the leaf skin is a sap that contains aloin. This chemical compound is known for its exceptionally strong purgative effect and is used only in special circumstances as a medication in small doses in the form of tablets. This is due to its very bitter and unpleasant taste. The most important and valued component of aloes is the pulp, which is found in the center of the leaf. The transparent and thick substance is responsible for the healing properties of this plant. In this form, it can be applied directly to the skin or processed to make beverages, cosmetics, or medications.

Abundance of nutrients in aloe

The abundance of active compounds found in aloe gel makes it an exceptionally versatile and useful plant resource. It is composed of 96% water and the remaining 4% are valuable nutrients. The most common among them are simple sugars such as glucose and mannose, as well as more complex ones like cellulose and acemannan. They serve as a source of energy, protect the mucous membrane of the digestive tract, and support the collagen synthesis. Another group of nutrients are mineral compounds, including manganese and selenium, which have antioxidant properties. Aloe also contains magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus, which support the growth and function of bones and muscles, as well as iron, which is responsible for transporting oxygen to the cells. In smaller amounts, there are also zinc, copper, sodium, and chromium. Aloe owes its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties to the presence of salicylic acid, as well as the antioxidant effects of vitamins A, C, and E. Aloe juice is also rich in B vitamins, which regulate metabolic functions, support tissue growth and brain function. It also strengthens the immune system through the presence of the enzyme bradykinin, which is responsible for the production of macrophages and the reduction of swelling and pain after injuries. Aloe also contains amino acids, such as cysteine and tyrosine, which help in the treatment of allergies and weight loss.

Aloe medication – oral application

Aloe juice consumed 30 minutes before eating demonstrates gastroprotective properties, which can help mitigate the burning sensation in situations of excessive acidity. It aids in digestion complications, also contributing to the rejuvenation of the bacterial flora. In cases of diarrhea, it acts as an antibacterial, nutritional, and anti-inflammatory agent. It safeguards the gastric and duodenal mucosa from irritations and ulcers. It facilitates the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection and the accompanying inflammatory process.

The circulatory system of the heart

Aloe is rich in enzymes and amino acids that support fat metabolism. It influences the suitable cholesterol level in the blood, which reduces the risk of cardiovascular disorders. Additionally, the magnesium and calcium content aids the heart's functioning and regulation of its work. Through magnesium and iron, it assists in the production of red blood cells and prevents anemia.

The hormonal system

Aloe can serve as an effective pain reliever during menstruation and can also be utilized during menopause to support the body during hormonal changes. The high level of zinc, manganese, and vitamin B6 stimulates the pancreas to produce insulin, which regulates blood glucose levels.

The neurological system

Phospholipids and phenylalanine, which are present in aloe juice, exert a positive influence on the transmission of nerve impulses and stimulate the activity of neurons. It is recommended to use aloe in instances of intellectual overload and stressful situations. A body that is properly nourished will respond with peaceful sleep and mental balance. Consuming a spoonful of juice before two meals can enhance appetite and regulate the sensation of satiety.

Covering of the face and body

Aloe vera gel applied to the skin of the face and body decreases inflammation of the sebaceous glands, cleanses and contributes to skin regeneration, thus reducing the number of imperfections and the visibility of scars left by acne. Aloe products decrease symptoms of skin sensitivity, which are the result of an allergic reaction to food components that the body does not tolerate. They also serve as protection against insects and insect bites, thereby reducing itching. Iron and vitamins B1, B2 (which stimulate the production of white and red blood cells) promote wound healing. Acemannan, together with amino acids and vitamins, contributes to tissue regeneration, reduction of scars and stretch marks after pregnancy or weight gain. Cinnamic acid, present in aloe vera, supports the fight against skin fungus, soothes redness and contributes to skin regeneration.

The sight organ

Eye care products containing aloe vera can soothe inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea due to the presence of zinc, magnesium, and vitamins A and E. A cotton swab cylindrical in shape and soaked in aloe vera juice is also recommended in the case of a sty on the eyelid.

An oral welcome

The anti-inflammatory properties of aloe are effective in suppressing tooth or gum pain, as well as unpleasant breath caused by oral diseases. A recommended solution is the use of a mouthwash made of aloe juice, water, and honey, which can also provide relief in cases of inflamed tonsils.

Skin reddening induced by the sun's radiation

It is beneficial to have aloe vera gel on hand during sun exposure. Apart from providing protection against harmful UV rays, it also aids in reducing pain and accelerating the regeneration process of sunburnt skin.

He's a recurring scalp looter

The care of the scalp constitutes the primary stage in the battle against recurring scalp flaking. Aloe, which is directly administered onto the scalp, reestablishes the suitable pH level, diminishes inflammation and nourishes the hair.

Inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eyes

During a cold, the conjunctiva of the eyes may become irritated. The application of aloe gel can accelerate the regeneration process of the conjunctiva and alleviate symptoms and inflammation.
