Is that truly what shapes Chinese cuisine?
Chinese cuisine is prepared in a variety of ways depending on the region, due to differences in the size of the country and the availability of ingredients. This is where variations of Chinese cuisine such as Peking, Shanghai, and Sichuan originate from, between which there are significant differences, especially in terms of the spices used. Nevertheless, each dish should be based on five flavors: sweet, salty, spicy, sour, and bitter. To prepare dishes, a wok pan is usually used - a deep vessel that is primarily used for frying. The main ingredients of Chinese dishes are rice and noodles. Most often, white short-grain rice is used, while in restaurants, many types of noodles such as Chinese, soybean, or rice noodles can be found. From the meats, beef is most often chosen, but due to its relatively high price, it is often replaced with pork or poultry. Additionally, Chinese cuisine is characterized by the frequent use of vegetables in dishes. Asian dishes that can be bought in Polish restaurants are usually not considered healthy due to the use of large amounts of fat, ready-made sauces, and marinades, making them a source of saturated fatty acids and salt. Moreover, they are characterized by a high energy value, which is due to the thermal treatment used, which is usually based on frying or steaming with additional fat. It is better to prepare dishes of Chinese cuisine on your own at home.
