Upon attaining sexual maturity, the female body experiences cyclical structural and functional changes during which the process of maturation of the bladders persists in the ovary [3]. Upon release of the ovum, the mature ovarian follicle transforms into a corpus luteum. Although the length of the yellow body phase is usually constant and typically 14 days, there exists a certain range of norm in clinical practice. Any deviations from this norm may cause concern and are often the reason for medical consultations.

What's the luteal phase?

The luteal phase, also known as the progesterone or secretion phase, is the last and longest of all the phases of the menstrual cycle. This phase also has the largest number of changes, among them e.g. yellow body vascularization, whose peak (about 89 days after ovulation) occurs during the period of maximum release of progesteron, the hormone responsible for preparing the lining of the uterus for the embryo to clot.

It's a long phase of the luteal phase

Although the duration of the yellow body phase is essentially constant, in some situations (excessive stress, heavy physical exertion), its duration may be prolonged. In the light of literary reports, heavy exercise (sports, work) is associated with an increase in the frequency of prolonged cycles, the absence of ovulation or menstruation [4].. Occasionally, an extended luteal phase may also indicate pregnancy.. However, it should be emphasized that this cycle phase is usually accompanied by higher body temperatures, and any fertilization should be confirmed by a pregnancy test.

Luteal phase deficiency is a condition in which the yellow body is unable to produce enough progesterone or produce it for too short a time. In the case of disorders of the secretion phase and at the same time its duration is too short, the mucous membrane of the uterus is not adequately prepared for the nesting of the fertilized egg cell, which is one of the causes of infertility in women.

A short luteal phase and a diet

A properly balanced diet, rich in certain nutrients of particular importance for the preservation of fertility, can ensure good health and the proper functioning of the reproductive organs. The basis for initiating the dietary procedure should be a thorough evaluation of nutrition, i.e. a nutritional assessment to identify errors made by the patient, as well as the need and scope for modification of the diet. However, there is no doubt that the healthy body will respond to a particular problem of reproductive functioning disorders. One of the most important features of this dietary model after the release of magnesium may be the application of fats to the essential oils, fats, oils and vegetables.
