A thorough examination of the contributing factors behind the rising obesity epidemic and its implications for public health on a global scale.
What is obesity?
It's nothing more than excess fat in the human body causing significant weight gain. Especially in the West, people are still gaining weight, and many are unable to get rid of excess pounds despite their efforts. In some cases, although this is a significant minority of obesity is unfortunately congenital. But most people who struggle with significant excess weight have worked on it on their own.
Obesity BMI
One of the most effective ways to control body weight, especially in people who are overweight or obese, is to follow the BMI. It is a body mass index calculated on the basis of height and weight. It's used as a tool to detect potential weight problems in adults. It also allows you to assess the risk of various diseases, such as tuberculosis or coronary heart disease. Very often they have their source in obesity. However, BMI is not a diagnostic tool, although it does indicate the presence of obesity, but it is used to confirm whether a person with the disease has any of the necessary body weight of a specialist examination: whether the body mass of a person is overweight, whether body weight is above the weight of the body weight or not.
Obesity in Poland
Obesity among Poles is a growing problem. As it turns out, women are increasingly struggling with it. From a 2008 study by the World Health Organization, we learn that Poles are ranked high because they rank 131st in the global obesity rankings. Statistics are frightening. Every 5 Poles suffers from this condition. However, more worrying is the fact that obesity is increasingly affecting children as well.
Obesity in the world
Obesity is a 21st-century civilization disease. According to the World Health Organization, there are over 520 million obese people in the world, and over 1.5 billion are overweight. As you can see, this problem is faced by a significant percentage of the human population. The highest rates of obesity can be seen in North America and Australia. In the United States, over 37 percent of the population is already obese. Forecasts say that in the future, this number will increase and may reach up to 50 percent. Unfortunately, Europeans are slowly falling behind the Americans.
Obesity is the cause
It's a well-known fact that the biggest influence on weight gain is an improper diet. And it's true. The lack of time causes us to eat too quickly without even thinking about what's happening on our plates. We eat too much, too much fat and unfortunately thoughtlessly. The fact that we eat high-calorie foods, as well as a small amount of meals during the day, can contribute to our body's cholesterol growth or impaired carbohydrate absorption.
