Research indicates that fewer Poles are consuming sugar directly, yet overall sugar intake continues to rise. This is due to the increasing consumption of processed foods containing hidden sugar additives, of which many consumers remain unaware. What foods should be avoided, and which should be incorporated into a sugar-free diet?

In today's world, it's hard to imagine a life without sugar. The list of foods to which this ingredient is added is very long. That's why it is so hard to completely eliminate it from the diet. In addition to sweets, in which its presence is obvious, you can find added sugar, etc. In ice cream, drinks, yogurts, sauces, jams or breakfast cereals. Of course, sugars are also found naturally in foods, such as fruits and milk.
A sugar-free diet has effects
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics from 2016 shows that the average monthly consumption of sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery per person per household was 1.78 kg. That's more than 20 kg of ballast per year, which, apart from lifting our body weight, does nothing good for our bodies. Excluding these foods altogether, we get rid of tens of thousands of kilocalories, which is equivalent to weight loss.
What to eat on a sugar-free diet?
The key to a sugar-free diet is to avoid added sugars, i.e. carbohydrates in products that are added to food during its processing or preparation for consumption. If on the label: white or brown sugar, molasses or glucose-fructose syrup, it is better to discontinue the purchase. Instead of simple sugars it is advisable to consume compound carbs.
