The dietary habits of the youngest individuals are primarily shaped by the food choices we present to them or permit. Although societal awareness regarding proper nutrition principles has increased in recent years, there has been a concurrent rise in the prevalence of excessive body weight among children and adolescents. From the earliest stages of life, priority should be given to providing a diverse selection of vegetables and fruits rather than yielding to the temptation of offering high-calorie, nutrient-poor snacks as a morning meal. It is essential to recognize that a balanced diet not only supports physical growth but also significantly enhances cognitive performance, including the capacity for sustained attention and the efficient acquisition of new information.
The baby food pyramid
Children's food pyramid colour plates have been developed by the Institute of Food and Nutrition in the framework of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme. They are designed to activate children and young people to practice sports and healthy nutrition. The essence of children's and youth's nutrition is to increase the dosage of sports and movement in the open air. Remember that children develop, among other things, mobility, and that later in life, farmers can avoid overweight and obesity.
