While lavender is inextricably linked to the picturesque fields of Provence, it is the Croatian island of Hvar that has earned the designation "Lavender Island" owing to its extensive cultivation of this plant, which for decades served as the primary economic foundation for its local population. The variety grown there is regarded as one of the most valuable in Europe—its quality surpasses even that of the renowned Provence lavender, a distinction supported by both traditional assessment methods and contemporary phytochemical research.
Laundry
Lavender is derived from the Latin lavandula meaning "to wash" and was used for this purpose in antiquity. The first mention dates back to 65 CE, when the water in bathrooms was scented with lavender. In addition, branches of lavender were used as incense and medicine for infectious diseases such as influenza. In the 16th century, it was used to treat paralysis, nervous diseases and colds, and during World War I lavender oil was supplied to soldiers.
Laundry properties
Therefore, British researchers at the University of Central Lancashire decided to give a group of volunteers tablets containing lavender before a film session. Horror was included. The results of the study indicated that women had increased heart rhythm variability (HRV), meaning they were more relaxed, whereas in men they showed a definite contrast. Therefore, lavender reduced the anxiety associated with watching horrors, but only in women. The effect of such a situation was unfortunately not only explained.
Use of lavender
The main uses of lavender are found in herbal medicine as a medicinal plant. It helps to relieve discomfort during periods of depression. It stimulates the circulation, strengthens the nervous system, acts as a pain reliever, irritant, soothing, ventilating, bacteriostatic, and jaundice. It is indicated in digestive disorders, nerve stimulation, headache, migraine, or insomnia.
Laundry is a contraindication
As with everything, and also with lavender, you should not overdo it. Medicinal lavender oil can cause inflammation of the skin in some people. Although it is the basis of herbal teas and is used in aromatherapy, it should not be used in high doses because it can cause drug poisoning that leads to convulsions and death.
