Iron represents an indispensable trace element whose presence is fundamental for the efficient operation of multiple bodily systems, including circulation, immune defense, and neural signaling. Although the daily requirement for this nutrient remains relatively modest, insufficient dietary intake or impaired absorption gradually depletes the body’s reserves, ultimately culminating in a condition known as iron-deficiency anemia. This disorder is marked by reduced hemoglobin levels in the blood, which directly compromises oxygen delivery to tissues and organs, triggering a cascade of systemic symptoms

Anemia from iron deficiency

Iron deficiency is a serious health problem because according to the World Health Organization, iron deficiency affects as many as 1.6 billion people worldwide. In countries with high socioeconomic status, it is estimated that between 30 and 70% of people suffer from this disorder and it is mainly due to an inadequate supply of iron. Iron-deficiency anemia develops when there is a reduction in the body's supply of this element.

Iron deficiency anemia is the cause

Inadequate iron intake with diet improper reduction diet, vegetarian diet, starvation. Improper absorption of iron from diseases such as: ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. Heavy bleeding from: digestive tract colon cancer, ulcer disease, urinary blood loss through the kidneys, genital menstruation, uterine muscles, endometriosis. Increased demand for iron puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Iron deficiency anemia is a symptom

The most serious effect of iron deficiency is a disturbance of the erythropoiesis process, which is characterized by less specific disorders that are often neglected or confused with another medical condition. Symptoms include: headache and dizziness, sleep and concentration disordering, pale skin lining, weakness, fatigue, worsening of exercise tolerance. Sometimes iron deficiencies can manifest themselves with very specific symptoms, i.e. pathological hunger, loss of tongue, or cracking of the vertebrae.

Is that even something to eat with iron deficiency anemia?

In order to fill in the deficiencies of iron in the human body, it is recommended to use a diet rich in this ingredient and an additional external supplements to support the healing effects of iron. Iron saturation depends on the following substances on the food list that increase and decrease the absorption of iron, the type of iron and the state of absorption by the organism of micro-components. However, iron-enhancing substances include: ascorbic acid, other organic acids: milk, citric acid, some amino acids rich in cyclic acid, because citric acids, citic acid, sugar products, fruit products.
