Impact of Blood Glucose Level on Weight Loss Process

In a world that is becoming increasingly consumer-oriented, where processed products are easily accessible, the number of people with overweight and obesity issues is also growing. There is a lack of time to prepare healthy meals,

Carbohydrates - the role of processes in the body

Two hormones are responsible for storing and burning fat in the body: insulin and glucagon. Insulin is a hormone that regulates glucose levels in the blood and keeps them at an appropriate level. Glucagon has an opposite effect to insulin and provides glucose to the blood when its level is too low. Processed foods such as fast food and sweets have a high glycemic index and cause a sudden increase in glucose levels in the blood, which in turn leads to an increase in insulin levels. If the body cannot utilize the excess glucose, it is stored as triglycerides in fat tissue, leading to fat accumulation and an increased risk of conditions such as obesity, atherosclerosis, and heart disease.

What is the mechanism of insulin resistance?

The proper regulation of blood glucose level is controlled by insulin. Its constant secretion causes the body to become accustomed to its frequent high concentrations. As a result, the body becomes significantly more resistant to its action. This leads to a state where high blood insulin level does not decrease the blood glucose level. This situation is referred to as a pre-diabetic state. High insulin level in the blood can lead to abdominal obesity, overweight, hypertension, high blood lipid levels. The presence of these risk factors can lead to cardiovascular diseases and cancers. Insulin also affects the level of the stress hormone, cortisol, which can lead to inflammation.

How the body burns fat tissue

The processes associated with burning fat tissue are regulated by glukagon, which plays a crucial role in breaking down fat tissue, resulting in the release of sugars from triglycerides. Glukagon is released when the blood sugar level drops to a very low level. Therefore, to achieve the effects of a weight loss diet, it is important to remember that it is not the quantity but the quality of the food you eat that matters. The most important thing is to control sugar addiction, which can get the body into trouble. When planning a weight loss diet, we should analyze our eating habits, think about what we can start with. What will be easiest for us to give up, what will be hardest – and implement our observations in practice. Remember that diets promising quick results without changing eating habits will not bring the expected results, as months of fighting with kilograms and yourself (sometimes you eat on a diet what you have to, not what you want) will lead to the fact that, celebrating a slim silhouette, you will finally go to the confectionery or pizzeria. Then it will be too late, and the kilograms will return faster than you think. Let's take care of ourselves by controlling the blood sugar level on an empty stomach and after eating, because both too high and too low a blood sugar level can be dangerous for health.
