What is Ginkgo biloba?
Ginkgo biloba, also known as the two-lobed Ginkgo, is a species of tree belonging to the Ginkgoaceae family. Despite its unique name, the tree is found only naturally in China. Currently, there are about 200 varieties of this plant in the world. Ginkgo biloba is used in traditional Chinese medicine and is classified as a medicinal plant. Initially, the seeds were mainly used, but over time, an extract from the leaves has also been employed. Ginkgo biloba is now one of the most popular dietary supplements in the Western world.
Effect of Japanese Aralia
Japanese Aralia extract contains at least 60 bioactive constituents, including flavonoids and terpenes. These components belong to the group of antioxidants, which aid in body detoxification and delay the aging process. Furthermore, this plant exhibits strong neuroprotective properties, contributing to the improvement of the nervous system's function.

The scope of applications for Ginkgo biloba is wide-ranging and is linked to the earlier mentioned mechanisms of action of this preparation. Dosing of formulations containing Japanese Ginkgo
Formulations containing Japanese Ginkgo should be dosed appropriately to avoid unwanted side effects. A dose of 120–240 mg taken 1–4 hours before the planned effort is recommended for improving cognitive function. In the case of the elderly, 40–120 mg three times a day is recommended. Inadequate and insufficient supplementation of Ginkgo biloba may cause adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal irritation (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), weakness, rash, heart palpitations, and pain as well as dizziness. Contraindications to the use of formulations containing Japanese Ginkgo include pregnancy, age under 13 years, anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs, surgical procedures, hemophilia, and other disorders related to blood clotting.

One of the Polish scientific publications on oncological treatment confirms the effectiveness of double-bladed gums in reducing the negative effects of treatment on the heart. These adverse outcomes may include, among others, blood pressure disorders, heart rhythm disturbances or even cardiomyopathy. Studies in animals using medicines containing extract from the Japanese double-bladed gums have shown: reduction in the level of lipid peroxidation in heart muscle cells; reversal of unfavorable changes that were observed in the ECG; only minor structural changes in the heart are observed.
