Chia seeds

Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica L..) were already used in the folk medicine of the Mayans and Aztecs. These people used them as an aid in the treatment of respiratory diseases, eye diseases and many infections. In addition, in Spain they are used as an ingredient in the fresco of a popular energy drink. chia seeds are a beneficial part of the diet because of their composition. They are characterized by a high content of omega-3 fatty acids (64 g of alpha-acetic acid/100 g of the product), which helps to prevent metabolic diseases.

Seeds of flaxseed

Flaxseeds have been used in medicine for centuries. They help with constipation, ulcerative disease, bronchitis, cough, skin diseases, burns and defrostings. Their beneficial effects are due to their composition. Flax seeds are a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3), phytosterols, vitamin E, as well as protein compounds, organic acid (e.g. ascorbinoids), enzymes, solids and ballasts, and saline minerals (magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron).

Is it chia seeds or flaxseeds? What's better?

Both flaxseeds and chia seeds are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants (lignans). They also contain a high amount of protein, vitamins, and minerals. They support the work of the brain and heart, lower LDL cholesterol levels in the blood, improve metabolism, protect the gut, delay the absorption of sugars. They are a great addition to food, especially to cocktails, juices, and other drinks.
