As mass food processing dominates modern diets, an increasing number of people are turning to the most unprocessed foods available. But what are the genuine benefits and drawbacks of a raw food diet, which relies solely on uncooked ingredients? Is this unconventional eating approach genuinely healthier?
Raw and natural
The raw diet is one of the variations of the vegetarian diet. However, its main recommendation is to eat only raw vegetables or lightly prepared in water at 42 °C. Among its supporters there is a belief that it is the most natural diet that will cleanse the body of all chemicals and get the most valuable out of food. However as everything has its disadvantages, the raw food diet is not the best solution for everyone.
