Importantly, valerian excellently regulates sleep, which is evident in fewer awakenings and improved dream recall. Melissa, also known as lemon balm, has a calming and slightly sleep-inducing effect due to the compounds in its leaves, such as tannins, essential oils, bitters, and organic acids. Melissa is often used in tea bags for brewing, as a tablet with an extract from melissa leaves, or in sleep-promoting mixtures. Additionally, melissa has a carminative and choleretic effect, soothes the nerves, and alleviates fatigue. It is best consumed before bed or in stressful situations. Lavender, also known as true lavender, has a calming effect and promotes sleep. It is most commonly used for anxiety, mood swings, sleep disorders, or in stressful situations. It is often used during baths as an essential oil. Hawthorn, also known as common hawthorn, has properties that dilate blood vessels, which is why it is used for cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure. It has also proven effective in treating nervous tension, which can lead to sleep disorders. An excellent mixture is a tea made from hawthorn, heather, and acacia. Hop cones, also known as hops, contain compounds that have a calming and sleep-promoting effect. In the past, hops were used to make pillows intended to improve sleep. This is due to the volatile compound methyl-3-buten-2-ol, as well as essential oils and isovaleric acid. Calamus, also known as calamus root, has calming and soothing effects on the nervous system. To benefit from its effectiveness, one should drink half a glass of water with half a teaspoon of calamus root extract every night before bed. People suffering from sleep disorders should consider treatment with effective and safe herbs. Remember that using natural herbs instead of pharmaceutical drugs can avoid side effects that may occur after their use.
