Experts attribute this phenomenon to ghrelin, a hormone responsible for the sensation of hunger. This hormone increases the level of motivation and desire for high-calorie foods, resulting in a significantly higher expenditure than originally intended.

Meal preparation at home

It's no secret that preparing meals at home is much more economical than consuming them outdoors. For the cost of one dinner at a restaurant, you can feed a family of four. Preparing meals ahead and taking them in work containers saves time. If you can't afford to spend a few hours a day in the kitchen, you can prepare larger portions that will last for two to three days. This will make you use all the ingredients, nothing is wasted, and you won't be exposed to additional costs. When you cook at home, you decide for yourself what's in the food you eat, so you're sure you eat healthy.

Choose to go for seasonal fruits and vegetables

The prices of fruit and vegetable products during the season are significantly lower. Although most of them are available in the stores throughout the year, it's important to remember that in order to make this possible, these products are often transported from far-flung corners of the world. This is neither conducive to their prices nor their quality. Therefore, it's worthwhile to take advantage of the charms of spring and summer, and to visit the nearby markets and bazaars. The products we find there not only taste better, but are also healthier. In this way, we can enjoy the taste and aroma of authentic strawberries or tomatoes, which are not made of plastic.

Obtaining items as minimally processed as possible

In general, the more an item is processed, the higher its price. For example, for a small pack of good quality cheese, you'll pay much more than for the same amount of cheese purchased by weight. It's similar with deli meats available in slices in packages. These products often also contain a lot of additives to keep them fresh for a longer time. Items such as rice, cassava, flour, pasta should be obtained in larger quantities. They don't spoil quickly, so they can be stored in tightly sealed containers. Pay attention to special promotions

Any and all possible price reductions and other offers can be a fantastic way to save money, but beware of falling into a trap. It is not advisable to purchase products solely due to their promotional price. In this manner, we often end up spending more than saving, buying items that we never use. Moreover, such offers often pertain to unhealthy and subpar products, which should always be avoided.

Create your own vegetable garden

If you have the opportunity, growing your own fruits and vegetables is an excellent idea to save money. Seeds and seedlings can be obtained at very low costs. Even a pot on the balcony or on a parapet in the kitchen window can serve as a small garden. In it, you can plant various herbs: basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, or spices, and even cocktail tomatoes. This option usually requires some time and commitment, but the satisfaction of being able to use the yields of self-grown plants is priceless! As you can see, you don't need to be a millionaire to eat healthily. It is important to remember that what we eat has a significant impact on our body. Therefore, a well-considered diet is so important, which does not ruin either the wallet or, most importantly, health.
