It is widely recognized that garlic enhances the flavor and aroma of dishes. Many are also familiar with its health benefits. But what does its composition entail? What characteristics render it so valuable for our body?

Garlic contains vitamins and minerals

Garlic contains over 200 different biologically active substances vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. Garlic's main active substance is allicin, which has a strong bactericidal activity. It also contains vitamins B1, B2, PP, C and mineral components such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, and magnesium.

The properties of garlic

Because garlic has the ability to rebuild the bacterial flora, it is recommended to use it after antibiotic treatment or in the case of parasites of the digestive system. It also helps to release insulin by effectively lowering blood sugar levels, which makes it especially valuable for diabetics. But that's not all. It reduces the tension in the smooth muscles and stimulates the secretion of gastric juice in the stomach by accelerating our metabolism.

In what form?

Although it is most commonly used in cooked or baked foods, it is best consumed raw. Although pharmacies fill us with all sorts of supplements that we can find garlic in, unfortunately they are not as effective as fresh plants, because the process of drying or crushing effectively deprives it of most of its valuable nutrients, not to mention the loss of this wonderful, intense flavor.
