First Competitions: How to Prepare?

No, no, it's not for me, everyone there can do that, and I'm like, what? "The tricks? They'll laugh at me... how am I supposed to prepare for this kind of competition?"

"I am not concerned with what others think", I told myself.

Certain individuals exhibit fear towards challenges and the opinions of others, while others derive pleasure from them and participate in all of them. It is the same with competitions. Some lack the courage to enter the competition, despite training for several years, while others are ready to compete and actively participate in all events. As I previously mentioned, competitions provide an excellent opportunity to exchange and gain experiences.

Individual aspect

Are our skills adequate to meet the expectations of the judges? My personal experience suggests that the time required to start competitions is indeed an individual matter, and here comes the question of how long it takes before we can say that the time has come to start the first-class competitions. I know players who achieve a truly high level by training for only one or two years. Normally, this disappoints me, but I am immediately aware that beginners currently have easy access to all the necessary information on how to train and eat. The internet is full of information - you just need to read a lot. The speed at which you will develop depends on the lifestyle you lead, whether you have dealt with other sports, and how you nourish yourself.

How to prepare for the competition?

If training is relatively short, it can be difficult to prepare for the competition. However, the fact remains that regularly performing basic exercises, also known as foundation exercises, provides a good foundation. Regardless of whether one has a month or two weeks before the competition, these exercises will allow one to maintain strength and endurance until the end of the preparation. When it comes to the performances themselves, I recommend carefully planning and considering the entire presentation, working out the details, and trying to execute everything under the chosen music. Remember to perform a basic pyramid for a burned series after each training session. During rehearsals, you will see for yourself what you lack and what needs improvement. Avoid filling your performance with heavy and complex elements that you have managed to accomplish once or twice in your life. Trust me, stress will most likely cause you to mess up that figure. It is best to base your performance on such figures that you perform perfectly and feel confident in. If you are able to perform strength exercises with different grips, please do not perform 5-6 repetitions in each grip. This will greatly exhaust your muscles, and for the judges, it is enough if you perform 2-3 repetitions. Remember that the main purpose of competitions is integration and fun. Therefore, it is worth participating in all events, taking part in competitions, and integrating with others in the Polish street workout scene.
