Furthermore, this substance is accountable for male sexual function, manages spermatogenesis responses, and assists in proper sexual development. Analogous to the popular Tribulus or ZMA, DAA amplifies the operation of male libido. The function of DAA primarily entails increasing the secretion of gonadotropin (GnRH), the growth hormone (LH), and the presence of testosterone originating from the testes. Consistent supplementation with D-aspartic acid results in a steady increase in strength and muscle mass, as well as accelerating the body's regenerative processes after intense physical exertion. Hence, it can be confidently asserted that D-aspartic acid belongs to the substances acknowledged as testosterone boosters.

Dosage and method of application

The supplementation of D-aspartic acid is primarily intended for adults who are grappling with low testosterone levels. Young sports enthusiasts should refrain from using it, as premature intervention in their own hormonal system can lead to difficult to reverse or irreversible changes. It is often recommended to use D-aspartic acid before bedtime to enhance the release of testosterone and prevent the development of nocturnal catabolism.

Professor Nagata and his team at the University of Tokyo in 2000 determined the impact of D-aspartic acid on testosterone production. This substance is responsible for the increased production of the luteinizing hormone, which binds to receptors located on the surface of Leydiga cells in the testicles, resulting in an increased synthesis of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and the release of the cholesterol side chain. This reaction is critical to the synthesis of testosterone and was named steroidogenesis. In 2010, Professor D'Aniello conducted an experiment in Naples aimed at determining the extent to which the human body would respond to supplementation with D-aspartic acid. A group of men received a daily dose of 3 grams of this substance over a period of 12 days. The results showed that the testosterone level increased by 40% and the level of luteinizing hormone increased by 25% compared to the placebo group.

Adverse effects

The intake of DAA is associated with interference with our hormonal balance, as confirmed by the previously mentioned increase in testosterone levels. However, there is a risk associated with the use of D-aspartic acid. The first of these risks is an increase in the concentration of other substances, including female hormones, which can disrupt the balance of our body. For this reason, DAA is often used in combination with compounds that prevent the transformation of steroid hormones. Another risk is the increase in the level of prolactin, a hormone that is responsible for lactation processes and is involved in many processes related to the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. An increase in prolactin levels in the body of a man increases the risk of developing gynecomastia. In addition, the intake of DAA can also lead to a deterioration in overall well-being, headaches, sleep problems, concentration difficulties, and reduced ability to think logically.
