Aloe and Its Attributes

"Where it flies, there it heals and soothes" - that's what our grandmothers have been saying about aloe for a long time. There's truth to it, as aloe has numerous applications. It can be found in beverages, cosmetics, medications, and of course, dietary supplements. Aloe is a plant that has adapted to conditions where water access is limited. It develops watery tissue in its leaves, which stores this water.

Aloes - Properties and Applications

Aloes are primarily known for their purgative properties, which support bowel movements. They also have a positive impact on bile production and liver function. Aloe leaves contain, among other things, aloin, barbaloin, and aloe-emodin, which are used in the production of reinforcing and antibacterial drugs. Consuming aloe juice can help enhance our natural immunity against diseases such as colds, flu, and harmful bacteria. Those suffering from allergies can also benefit from the effects of aloe juice. Fresh aloe leaves are a rich source of valuable nutrients, including vitamins A, C, and E, which are powerful antioxidants that help reduce oxidative stress and fatigue after intense workouts. Aloe also contains essential microelements such as calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, and manganese, which have a range of beneficial effects on the body, including supporting heart function, brain health, and overall life functions. Aloes also contain campesterol and beta-sitosterol, which have anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering properties, respectively. Regular use of aloes can help reduce stress and improve concentration, making them a valuable choice for improving mental condition. Aloes are also recognized as an adaptogen, helping to cleanse the body at the cellular level and positively affect bowel function. They can help with conditions such as colic, diarrhea, gastric reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation, as well as support the natural cleansing functions of the liver, kidneys, and skin. Aloes are also a great choice in an alkalizing diet and can help with joint inflammation.

Why employing cosmetics containing aloe vera is advantageous

Aloe vera exerts a beneficial effect on our skin, primarily due to its content of vitamins A, C, and E. Vitamin A possesses anti-wrinkle properties and aids in the removal of skin discoloration. Vitamin E is commonly known as the vitamin of youth, while vitamin C is a very powerful antioxidant. All of these constituents have a positive impact on slowing down the skin aging process. As previously mentioned, aloe vera possesses anti-inflammatory properties and promotes wound healing. Consequently, it helps with abrasions and alleviates all forms of rashes and unwanted skin changes. It can also prove effective in treating more severe skin conditions such as skin cancer. Cosmetics containing aloe vera also have a moisturizing effect, making them useful in cases of dry skin and contributing to the softening of rough skin and chapped hands. Moreover, the presence of vitamins from group B expands blood vessels, leading to improved skin circulation and enhanced skin coloration.

Aloes – Instances where they should not be used

It is very difficult to overdose on aloes, which is really good news. However, it is always important to remember that long-term use or overdose of aloe juice may result in undesirable side effects. These side effects include, among others, atonia of the colon, diarrhea, loss of water and electrolytes, primarily potassium. However, I know many individuals who have consumed high-quality aloe juice added to water daily for many years and have derived numerous benefits from it. It is, however, important to remember that negative consequences depend on the amount of aloe consumed. Aloe juice should be stored in a cool place, preferably in the refrigerator.
