What is adrenaline?
Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, is a hormone that is sometimes referred to in English as 3×F, meaning fear (fright), fight, and flight. It is produced by the adrenal glands, which are located above the kidneys, in situations where life or health is at risk. Adrenaline triggers the basic instinct of survival, allowing humans to think and move faster, increase their stamina and strength, and feel less pain. With adrenaline, we can become a great warrior for a moment. The effects of adrenaline are an experience that everyone has had at least once in their life. Many people admit that in a dangerous situation, such as being chased by an aggressive dog, they gained superhuman speed and were never able to repeat their feat. When the brain receives a signal of danger, it immediately sends it to the appropriate glands that produce the hormone, as well as to the fibers of the sympathetic nervous system, which secrete adrenaline. This substance acts immediately, manifesting itself in an accelerated heartbeat and breathing, a dilation of the pupils, and a pressure in the stomach. Epinephrine is used in medicine in the treatment of sudden allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and cardiogenic shocks. Adrenaline belongs to the group of stress hormones together with norepinephrine and cortisol. Long-term release of these substances can lead to disorders of the nervous system and circulation.
Adrenaline unburdening
Nowadays, humans are rarely threatened by wild animal attacks. However, people with the adventure-seeking personality type stimulate adrenaline production by practicing extreme sports. Instead of finding relief in warm boots after a hard week of work, they jump in a parachute, climb mountains, and dive to great depths. Awareness of the risk situation allows them to master stress, which translates to other areas of life. Studies have shown that people who practice extreme sports are more stable emotionally and accommodating. They handle stress better, react faster to pressure at work, home, or school. Hard training and the need for concentration help them develop endurance and shape character, so they can get rid of neuroticism, which consists of constant irritation, poor self-perception, fear, impulsiveness, restlessness, and depression. The personality type is largely genetic, but can be influenced by lifestyle. People who recharge their adrenaline batteries through sports become more sociable, carefree, lively, attentive to the needs of others, and new experiences. Practicing extreme sports for relaxation is becoming increasingly popular, especially in large European cities.
Healthy extreme sports
To embark on a journey into the realm of high-risk sports, flyboarding is an excellent option. It involves hovering above water using a board equipped with jets that expel water with great force. In Poland, there are numerous training centers that offer flyboarding lessons, including those located in Mazury and in the Warsaw suburb of Zegrz. Balancing in the initial moments may seem nearly impossible, but after a few sessions, you begin to feel more confident. However, weather conditions can also have negative impacts on this training - flyboarding in Poland is a fantastic form of summer training. On the other hand, weather has no influence on learning martial arts such as Muay Thai, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Krav Maga. During sparring matches, you can feel a shocking rush of adrenaline coursing through your body. Increasingly, people in Europe are also opting for mountain climbing, which is an excellent form of year-round activity. Extreme sports also include paragliding, skydiving, skysurfing, sailing regattas, parkour, snowboarding, and motocross. It is worth trying this form of stress relief and character development, and a bonus of choosing such a hobby is achieving excellent physical fitness.
