Carbonated beverages, including widely consumed cola brands, are universally acknowledged by nutrition scientists as products with a highly unfavorable health profile, primarily due to their excessively elevated concentrations of sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup. Surprisingly, however, comparable—and in some cases even higher—levels of simple carbohydrates are also present in many commercially available fruit juices, which are frequently misperceived as a "healthier" alternative. The habitual consumption of these liquids not only disrupts the body’s energy equilibrium, thereby promoting the development of overweight and obesity, but also initiates enamel demineralization processes that ultimately contribute to the formation of carious lesions among regular consumers.

Juice and sweet drinks cause tooth decay

Tooth decay is a disease of the oral cavity that leads to the demineralization of the tooth by the action of acids produced by bacteria in the mouth. Juice and carbonated drinks, as shown in a study published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, create the ideal conditions for toothache.
