Besides water and tea, coffee is one of the most consumed beverages worldwide. Cappuccino, Americano, or Espresso are just some ways to serve this aromatic beverage. However, coffee has many more applications in the kitchen. During summer, one can prepare refreshing frozen coffee based on it, while in Italy, it is an indispensable ingredient in one of the most beloved desserts, tiramisu. But that's not all. In this article, you'll find 5 ideas to incorporate coffee in daily meals.

Oatmeal with coffee

There are individuals who find it difficult to envision a morning devoid of a warming cup of coffee. Yet, others appreciate a nourishing breakfast that energizes them for the day. Both these perspectives can be blended by preparing oatmeal with coffee. Ingredients: – Oats, spelt flakes or buckwheat flakes – ½ cup (50 g), – milk or plant-based drink – ¾ cup (200 ml), – espresso – cup (50 ml), – optionally: vanilla extract (a few drops) or chocolate chunks (6 g). Preparation: In a pot, warm up a small quantity of water. Then incorporate the flakes, pour in milk and coffee (optionally mix in a few drops of vanilla extract or chocolate chunks). Cook until the flakes have absorbed all the liquid; stir frequently. Serve hot or cold with your favorite additions such as nuts, fruits or yogurt.

Pancakes with coffee addition

Pancakes are a constant feature of menus worldwide, in diverse variations. In Poland, they are also very popular and an increasing number of eateries specialize in preparing these baked goods and offer them in numerous flavor nuances. One of them is the pancake with coffee addition, which blends exceptionally well with curd cheese and fresh fruits or flowing chocolate. Ingredients: – egg – piece (50 g), – wheat flour – ¾ cup (100 g), – milk – ⅓ cup (100 ml), – water – ⅓ cup (100 ml), – espresso – cup (50 ml), – cocoa – teaspoon (5 g), – xylitol or erythritol – tablespoon (15 g), – baking powder – ¼ teaspoon (1 g), – salt – pinch (0, 2 g), – optional: vegetable oil – tablespoon (10 g).

„Hummus” Coffee - sweet version

Hummus is widely known and loved in the Middle Eastern region, prepared with chickpeas, sesame, garlic, and lemon. We propose here an alternative, sweet version of this dish that contains espresso - hence the general understanding of the name hummus. The paste can be used as a cream for pancakes, cakes, or as a healthier alternative to sweet spreads on bread. Ingredients: - raw chickpeas - ⅓ cup (50 g; about 100 g cooked chickpeas), - sesame paste tahini - ¼ cup (60 g), - sweetener (xylitol or erythritol) - 2 tablespoons (30 g), - espresso - 1 cup (50 ml), - purified soda - ½ teaspoon (2.5 g). Preparation: Espresso must be prepared, cooled, and refrigerated. Then, the raw chickpeas must be washed and soaked in water with the addition of purified soda for at least 6 hours (optimally all night). Then, the chickpeas must be rinsed, cooked in a lot of fresh water with the addition of purified soda, rinsed thoroughly through a sieve, and cooled. Then, the chickpeas must be processed with tahini paste into a smooth paste, sweetener must be added, and processed again. Then, espresso must gradually be added until the desired consistency is achieved.

Coconut and coffee granola bars

In circumstances where a rapid snack is required (during a journey, training or a busy day), the ingredients for the coconut and coffee granola bars are: oatmeal flakes 6 teaspoons (60 g), peanut butter paste 5 teaspoons (100 g), dried fruits (raisins, dates, cranberries, apricots, etc.) 2 flat tablespoons (20 g), favorite nuts and seeds 2–3 tablespoons (30 g), espresso 1 cup (50 ml), salt a pinch (0.2 g), optional: honey, maple syrup or agave syrup 1 teaspoon (12 g).

Coffee Marinade

Coffee, which is commonly associated with desserts and other sweet treats, can also be used in savory dishes. An example of this is a coffee marinade, which can be used for meat as well as tofu. The ingredients are: black coffee - 3/4 cup (200 ml), honey or agave syrup - 1 tablespoon (25 g), olive oil - 3 tablespoons (30 g), garlic - 1 clove (5 g), mustard - 1 teaspoon (10 g), spices: ground ginger - 1/2 teaspoon, salt - 1/4 teaspoon, black pepper and chili - a pinch. All these ingredients should be mixed together in a container and thoroughly blended. Meat or tofu should be covered with marinade and left in the refrigerator overnight (at least 12 hours).
