Salt is an essential component of every kitchen, and even a small amount can significantly enhance the flavor of dishes. While it is most commonly found as white crystals, this is not the only available form. Despite its simple chemical structure, salt exists in various types. Currently, Himalayan pink salt is particularly popular, with its color derived from iron compounds. At the same time, there is growing interest in black salt, which comes in two varieties, each with its own unique properties and applications.
It's the black salt
Kala-namak is widely used in Indian cuisine and Ayurvedic medicine. Contrary to its name, the color of the salt is not black, but rather gray, and is obtained as a result of the cultivation of Pakistani salt, and not as an effect of the mysterious geological processes taking place in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains. Apart from India, Kala-namaak is also highly valued by its vegetarians because of its intense scent, which makes it stronger than its active flavor, due to the heat generated by the glacial composition of its leaves.
Black salt has properties
Both the Hawaiian black salt and the Kala-namak black salt are mostly sodium chloride, i.e. the usual salt. In addition to its unusual color and aroma, these spices are another variation of traditional cooking salt. The mineral compounds contained in them are not a significant part of it enough that the use of large amounts of this salt would have particular health benefits.
Black salt, where to buy it, the price
The price of this salt is higher than the price of the classic white salt of the Hawaiian soup. Its kilogram can cost from $8.90 to almost $20.00, while the regular kilogram of salt of a kitchen is about $1.50.. It can be more difficult to buy salt of gold because it is a very unpopular product.. However, there are at least a few stores that have such a long-term profit in their offer of Hawaiian salt of pure salt.
