Podstawowe i wyizolowane ćwiczenia

W niniejszym artykule mam zamiar omówić podstawowe i wyizolowane ćwiczenia. Początkujący uprawiający kulturystykę często słyszą od bardziej doświadczonych kolegów powyżej wymienione terminy, jednak nie są pewni, co one w rzeczywistości oznaczają i jakie ćwiczenia są im przypisane.

Fundamental exercises - what are they?

Fundamental exercises are a type of training that engages a vast number of muscles simultaneously. They are also known as multistage, which means that during the exercise, two or more joints work. As they compel a substantial number of muscles to work, they will also burn a considerable amount of calories. In addition, performing such exercises allows for an effective reduction in training duration. Another advantage is that most of these exercises mimic daily movements, which increases reaction speed and reduces the risk of injuries.

"Isolation exercises - what's it about?"

When the motion is carried out exclusively in one joint, it signifies that this form of exercise is isolated. Why? It's all quite clear. If the basic exercise engages multiple muscle groups, then the isolated one - only one muscle. It turns out that during this movement, this muscle operates in isolation from the others, hence the name. Of course, other muscles can also participate in the isolation exercise, but only in a supporting and isometric manner. However, the primary movement will be executed by one isolated muscle group. In contrast, during fundamental exercises, at least two muscle groups work together, but also independently. They can be involved in varying ratios, all depending on the human organism and the biomechanics of the exercise. Similar to the isolation exercise, muscles will receive assistance from stabilizers, antagonists, and synergists.

Exemplary fundamental exercises and isolated movements

For example, let's consider an exercise such as performing a squat using a barbell. It is a fundamental exercise, one can independently list all the muscles involved in its execution. However, extending the legs on a chair is already an example of an isolated exercise. It is indisputable that during work on muscle mass, fundamental exercises are the main component of training, however, during the period of muscle sculpting, the situation is reversed. At that time, the number of fundamental exercises decreases, while the number of isolated exercises increases.

Which exercises are truly superior - a comparative study of basic and isolated movements

Regardless of your fitness level, most trainers recommend performing basic exercises. When it comes to isolated movements, they devote significantly less attention to them. Basic exercises are beneficial for everyone, and isolated movements are added to the training plan as needed. In general, you should not completely eliminate isolated exercises from your training plan, but rather perform them in addition to after completing basic exercises. If you aim to build muscle or strength, you must focus on basic exercises. The first step is hard work, that is basic, and at the end, you can add no more than one isolated exercise. If you only perform isolated exercises, the effectiveness of your training will decrease, and there is no longer any talk of muscle building.
