Praised for their distinctive flavor and fragrance, yet scrutinized for their elevated fat, sodium, and acrylamide levels, fries remain a favorite among children and seniors and have been a staple in economically prosperous nations for decades. The Netherlands holds the distinction of being the country with the highest per capita consumption of fries.

French fries

French fries Belgian and Dutch actually refer to fries prepared in a similar way. They are characterized by being prepared from fresh potatoes cut into irregular, thick strips, and fried twice. This way of processing the potato provides a hollow middle and crispy skin french fries. Belgian fries are considered the most delicious of all. The name derives from the fact that the northern part of Belgium and the Netherlands share a common language and traditions and are therefore sometimes called Belgian, and sometimes Dutch.

Dutch fries

Dutch fries, as mentioned above, are prepared in the same way as Belgian fries. Coarse, double-fried fries are most often consumed with heavy sauces, most often mayonnaise-based.

French fries from the bakery

An alternative to the Belgian and Dutch fries can be homemade fries from a bakery. A condition for the proper flavour of such fries is the good quality of potatoes, as well as their proper thermal processing. The advantage of preparing baked potatos at home is the certainty of the quality of the semi-finished products, the lower energy value, and the possibility of choosing flavor additives or the use of various potato flavours.
