Commonly referred to as "Morocco’s liquid gold," argan oil has earned acclaim among women globally who seek natural approaches to self-care—ranging from maintaining smooth, optimally hydrated skin to strengthening hair structure and protecting the nail plate. However, its multifaceted benefits extend far beyond cosmetic treatments. In the culinary traditions of the Middle East and North Africa, it serves as a prized ingredient renowned for its exceptional nutritional profile and subtly nutty flavor, enhancing traditional dishes with unique health-promoting properties.
Argan oil for food
Argan oil, which is the liquid gold of Morocco, is an extremely valuable oil because its production is possible only from the seeds of the argan tree growing only in small areas of Morocco. There are two main types of argan oil: a nutritional oil obtained from the roasted kernels of argan trees and a cosmetic oil pressed from raw kernels. Most often, both types of oils are fried in cold, i.e. with the maximum amount of nutrients such as sterols, antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids.
Argan oil medicinal properties
Argan oil is therefore an extremely beneficial oil for human health. In a rat experiment, researchers induced unhealthy changes in the lipid and carbohydrate profiles of animals by feeding them a high-fat diet. It was observed that rats fed a diet with the addition of argan oil did not expect an increase in overall cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, other fatty acids, glucose, and skin insulin, as well as a decrease in blood-oxygenated stress parameters in animals by giving them a diet high in fat.
Argan oil for food use
Argan oil in cooks' slang is called truffles or caviar.. It is worth emphasizing that this unique oil is obtained in most cases (you can check this on the packaging) by the method of cold pressing, so it should not be heated, because then it will lose many valuable properties for the body.. it is not recommended to fry, bake, suffocate on it.. instead it is worth using it in raw and unprocessed form, adding to the dressings that we pour vegetable salad, as a hair to the herbal pesto and addition to the vegetable pastes, as well as modified hummus.
Argan oil for food price, where to buy
Argan gold is becoming more and more available. Initially only in online stores, and now also in stationary grocery stores with healthy foods and in organic departments in larger hypermarkets. Unfortunately, the price of argan oil is high. For a bottle of 250 ml we pay about 40 50 zł, and for 500 ml it is close to 100 zł. It is worth remembering that the oil purchased was in a dark and best-preserved glass bottle, which protects the essential unsaturated fatty acids from decay under the influence of radiation.
