Could chronic inflammation of the periodontal tissues contribute to the development of cardiovascular disorders? Recent analyses conducted by a team of Swedish researchers at the University of Gothenburg suggest significant pathophysiological connections that may elucidate this relationship at the molecular and immunological levels
Healthy teeth, healthy heart!
In the Swedish study PAROKRANK, the hypothesis that dental disease has a strong correlation with heart disease was put forward. It was observed that people with periodontal disease are at risk for stroke, and people with cardiology usually also have a problem with tooth decay. Also, among people who have had their first heart attack, dental diseases were more common. The hypotheses are still waiting for evidence, but let's not wait for misfortune and introduce effective prevention of heart disease. Let's first choose a healthy diet.
