Shrimps possess a nutritional value
Seafood, including shrimps, is highly valued in Poland. However, according to statistics, the general consumption of seafood by Poles is low. In 2019, the annual consumption of fishery products per capita was 12-14 kg, as reported by the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food Economy. Shrimps can be an excellent addition to the diet, especially for those looking to lose weight. In 100 grams of raw shrimps, there are only 85 calories, most of which come from protein. Shrimps are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which have health benefits, including improving heart and circulatory function. Furthermore, shrimps do not contain carbohydrates but are rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. (Food Data Central, fdc. nal. usda. Gov)
Shrimp application in culinary arts
Shrimp are an excellent addition to salads, tortillas, or macaroni, but in order to fully appreciate their flavor and aroma, proper preparation is required. There are several types of shrimp available on the shelves. You can choose between frozen and fresh, between purified and unrefined. The decision depends on personal preferences and culinary skills. When it comes to shrimp themselves, they vary in size. There are tiger shrimp, which are large and ideal for various cooking methods. Meanwhile, smaller cocktail shrimp are perfect for sauces, salads, or macaroni. Preparing shrimp is a very important step. They are usually shelled - then they should be thoroughly washed and the digestive tract removed. The simplest method is to cut them lengthwise and remove the black vein. If we choose the purified version, we can skip this step. Further preparation of shrimp depends on the method of serving. Below are a few recipes using shrimp.
