A team of researchers from the DOr Institute for Research and Education (IDOR), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the federal University of Bahia (UFBA) conducted a study on apigenin, a variety of flavonoids. Laboratory experiments showed that this substance promotes the formation of neurons. This information leads to the hope of finding a cure for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.
