Dieta zgodna z grupą krwi stała się jednym z najbardziej popularnych trendów żywieniowych w latach 90. Mimo że nie wydaje się być szkodliwa, może sprawiać wrażenie skomplikowanej. Czy warto zastanowić się nad jej zastosowaniem? Co mówią najnowsze badania na ten temat?

1. Typ A

According to D’Adamo, individuals with blood group A are distinguished by a low level of hydrochloric acid in gastric juice and simultaneously a high content of disaccharidases (carbohydrate-digesting enzymes) in the intestines. Consequently, it is challenging for individuals with this blood group to digest meat and animal products, yet they manage exceptionally well with vegetables and starchy products. A meat-free diet based on plant-based, organic, unprocessed foods is recommended for them. They should also avoid considerable amounts of coffee, alcohol, and restrict sugar intake. This is associated with higher cortisol levels and a more pronounced response to stressors than in other blood groups. Practicing relaxation exercises, such as breathing exercises like Tai Chi or Yoga, can assist in stress reduction. Furthermore, these individuals should remember to maintain meal regularity and consume them in a tranquil atmosphere, as well as thoroughly chew their food to facilitate digestion.

2. Typ B

This blood group originated from our predecessors who resided in the Himalayas of modern-day India and Pakistan. Consequently, they had to adapt to the existing climate, which differed from the conditions on the savannah. As a result, individuals with the B antigen are easily adaptable to change. Products that enhance the adiposity of these individuals and pose a risk of hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels) following consumption include maize, wheat, buckwheat, chickpeas, tomatoes, nuts, sesame seeds. Poultry is also not recommended, as it contains lectins causing agglutination. Recommended consumption includes game, rabbit, veal, low-fat dairy, eggs, green vegetables. Exercises engaging both the muscles and the mind, such as tennis, mountain climbing, golf, are advised. Visualization is also recommended as a technique facilitating the achievement of set goals. Maintaining sleep hygiene is also advised - one should sleep for no less than 8 hours daily and retire before 11:00 PM. People with Type B blood are purportedly in need of human interaction, making involvement in local communities advisable.

3. Typ 0

4. Typ AB

The youngest evolutionarily. The products recommended by D'Adamo for people with this blood type are tofu, dairy, green vegetables. It is preferred that these people do not consume sources of protein and carbohydrates in one meal. They should avoid smoked and cured meat. Alcohol and caffeine are particularly unfavorable for these individuals. They may be prone to stomach cancer. They should also avoid bananas, corn, chicken. In their schedule, these individuals should consider both intense and relaxing exercises. Visualization technique is also recommended for them. We already know the concept of diet. Are there any grounds to start following a diet compatible with the blood type? 2. What speaks for the diet? As shown in a study verifying the effect of a diet compatible with the blood type on factors increasing the risk of heart disease, for some types the diet has beneficial properties. Compliance with recommendations for people with blood group A is associated with lower body weight, lower blood pressure values, lower triglyceride levels, cholesterol. Diet for type 0, on the other hand, was associated only with lowering the level of triglycerides. The beneficial effect was not in any way dependent on the blood type of the person tested. The study found that adherence to the assumptions, for example, for type A diet, brought benefits not only to people with this blood type. This is not surprising, given the existence of evidence of the beneficial effect of a plant-based diet on health. 3. The blood type diet and its disadvantages. The basic disadvantage of the concept itself is the lack of scientific confirmation of the theory on which it is based. The blood type itself may predispose to the occurrence of certain diseases such as pancreatic cancer or atherosclerosis. The blood type diet is restrictive. This may lead to problems with long-term adherence to dietary rules. A person with blood group A preferring meat will find it extremely difficult to switch to a plant-based diet. Research shows that people better tolerate and continue for a longer time a diet that is consistent with their individual preferences. Therefore, the blood type diet may not withstand the test of time. Is it worth trying then? 4. Is it worth following the blood type diet? The blood type diet may be balanced and safe. However, is it effective? In theory, it is supposed to improve well-being, reduce body weight and the risk of disease. Unfortunately, the theory itself has not been verified, and its effectiveness is questioned by studies. It is much easier to adhere to a healthy diet consistent with our preferences. Small steps can achieve the goal, but more time is needed for this.
