Seafood for some delicacies, for others not to be swallowed, in some cultures everyday, in others rare, exquisite dishes. More and more popular in Poland seafood, especially shrimp, surprises not only with its taste, but also with its health properties.

1. Is that what seafood is all about?

Seafood is rich in nutrients. It is a source of lean protein and provides vitamins and minerals iodine, selenium, fluorine, iron, zinc, copper and magnesium. Oysters are the richest source of zinc, affecting not only healthy skin and nails, but above all the proper functioning of the immune system. They are a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which alleviate or prevent the symptoms of chronic diseases such as cancer and hypertension.

2. What fruits of the sea do we distinguish?

Of the marine animals, the most important are carcinogens, land snails, as well as edible frogs. The thermal processing of seafood takes only a few minutes, and some, such as clams and oysters, can be eaten raw. The clams have a slightly rubbery consistency, prepared in a paste, which is an interesting mixture of shrimp.

3. Are shrimp the healthiest food in the world?

100 g of cooked shrimp is only 120 kcal. It also contains all B vitamins, especially B3 and B6, but also vitamin A and E. The remainder is omega-3 fatty acids. Shrimps are a rich source of vitamin B12, which is essential for the proper production of red blood cells and the breakdown of homocysteine, of which an elevated concentration is a risk indicator for asthma. They also contain all vitamins of group B, particularly B3, B6 but also vitamins A and B. The content of 50 μg per 100 g (100% R) makes it a particularly important source of blood sugar.
