World Vegetarian Day... is a vegetarian diet healthy?

World Vegetarian Day is celebrated on January 11. According to the latest data, nearly 21% of Poles abstain from meat consumption.

1. The vegetarian diet is still fashionable

People on the vegetarian diet do not eat meat, fish and seafood. Very often they also restrict the supply of other animal products. They do not eliminate them completely, however, as they do veganism. Now more and more people are giving up meat consumption. In the past it was a fad diet used mainly by young people. According to a 2021 report, the largest group on the meat-free diet are still younger people. Vegetarians aged 18 to 25 accounted for over 70% of all surveyed people. Older people are also deciding to change their dietary patterns.

2. Whether a vegetarian diet is healthy

A well-balanced vegetarian diet provides the body with all the necessary nutrients. Research suggests that a plant-based diet may also have beneficial effects on both the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. However, in recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of people with type 2 diabetes. It is a diet-dependent disease. The dietary diet plays a major role in its development. Scientific studies suggest that plant diets may have a beneficial effect both in preventing and treating certain diseases of the animal kingdom. In the same context, however, the authors of this study have paid particular attention to the positive effect of dietary diets on the treatment of glucose in one part of the body as well as on the health of those who remain in the body.

3. Can everyone follow a vegetarian diet?

One scientific review focused on how a good vegetarian diet affects the health of a pregnant woman and her offspring. The authors stressed that, however, a properly planned diet that is high in dietary fiber can have a positive impact on the lives of pregnant women. However, it should be remembered that the diet must be adequately balanced. One of the scientific reviews focuses on how the diet of good vegetarians affects women's health during pregnancy and their children's life. The author emphasized that a well-planned diet which is rich in nutritional fiber may have a beneficial effect on those who are pregnant.

4. Summary

The number of people using plant-based diets is increasing year by year. The results of many studies confirm their positive effect in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. However, this type of diet must be used appropriately to prevent nutritional deficiencies. This is particularly important in the diet of pregnant women, infants and young children.
