With advances in technology and new solutions designed to facilitate and optimize daily eating to provide the necessary amount of macro and micro ingredients, but not waste time preparing or replacing them.

Table of Contents

1. What are soylents?

Soylents are a generic name for products intended to replace whole meals. They can be in the form of powder mixed with water or milk and ready to eat. Most contain 200400 kcal and provide an adequate amount of fiber, mineral ingredients, vitamins and macronutrients, i.e. protein, fats and carbohydrates. One serving can cover from 10% to up to 50% of the demand for individual ingredients. They may also have different tastes and textures.

2. Benefits

Soylents certainly have many advantages. The most important of these is the convenience of use. It is a meal that takes less than a minute to prepare. You can take it with you anywhere and enjoy a full meal. Supplementing soylents with 12 meals a day is associated with faster weight loss than with standard reduction diets (G. Lopez Barrón et al., 2011). Interestingly, this effect has also been observed in people with type 2 diabetes. However, most of them have also been found to have a significant reduction in the concentration of so-called low cholesterol, or high cholesterol.

3. Disadvantages

Despite the advantages and many advantages of soylent, it also has many disadvantages. First of all, it is synthetic and highly processed products. In theory, however, it contains all the necessary ingredients, but in practice its absorption by the body can be limited, which can ultimately lead to deficiencies. The use of one type of product also reduces the diversity of the diet, which may contribute to the deterioration of its microbial quality. A major problem is that the long-term effects associated with this type of coffee are not known. However, in theory, all the essential ingredients of this type are also available in the market because they can be easily absorbed by the human body. Although all products have to go through a special test of their own weight, so that the body's own weight can be absorbed in order to prevent the body from reacting to them, there can be no way to prevent them from being absorbed and absorbed. In addition, in 2021 there will be many ways to replace them.

4. How much does it cost?

Soilants available on the Polish market cost an average of PLN 812 per meal. If using them once or twice a day does not seem to be an expensive solution, especially when compared to eating in a restaurant, then using them as a substitute for all meals during the day will be less profitable.

5. What to look out for when choosing soylents

When choosing a product, it is best to check the content of the macronutrients and choose them according to your lifestyle. For example, high-protein products will work well for athletes. Another issue is the sugar content, it's good not to be in the composition.

6. Summary

Soylents are products that can be successfully used as a substitute for individual meals. Because they contain all the necessary nutrients, they are a much better choice than fast food or snacks available in stores. However, it is worth noting that they should not form the basis of a diet. The long-term effects of their overuse are not yet known, and the manufacturers themselves emphasize that meal replacements are only a supplement to a balanced diet.
