Why should grapes be added to your diet?

In the food industry, fruits and vegetables are the most commonly used. Less popular, but equally valuable, are leaves. They are used in the production of herbal medicines and dietary supplements and as an additive to salads or dishes in Balkan cuisine. What are the health benefits of grapes and why is it worth introducing them into the diet?

1. Grapes general characteristic

The main ingredient is grapes (70 85% by weight). Fresh fruit water also contains sugars (1025%), dietary fiber, polyphenols, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, C, and K, as well as mineral salts such as zinc, fluorine, phosphorus, copper, manganese, potassium, iron, and cyanide. In the wine industry, 300 mg of grape oil is composed of 58% polyunsaturated fatty acids, including carbonic acid, chlorophyll, nitric acid, and nitric oxide.

2. The health properties of grapes

The health benefits of eating grapes are attributed to the antioxidants present in grapes. The most important grape polyphenols are anthocyanins, flavanols, flavonoles, phenolic acids (coumarin, cinnamon, caffeine), stilbenes and resveratrol. They have many biological properties they are antioxidant, cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, antiaging and antibacterial.

3. Grapes and diseases of civilization

A study conducted in 2022 suggested that adding grapes to the Western diet by 2 cups of grapes per day could have many health benefits. The experiment was conducted in mice (progress in obesity and metabolic disorders in these rodents is similar to obesity in humans). The diet was high in fat, so it followed the western model. The study found that supplementing the mouse menu with grapefruit juice (5% per day) could have a number of health benefits. The experiment also included 300 grams of vitamin B in humans with 70 kg of body fat. The research showed that supplementation of vitamin C in long-term diets and dietary extracts may help to increase the expression of fat extracts in the diet. The study also showed that extracts of vitamin D in long term diets can increase the risk of heart disease.

4. Grapes and neurodegenerative diseases

Wine consumption may improve memory and brain function. Over the past several decades, polyphenol-rich foods in grapes have been shown to protect against age-related diseases such as atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, arthritis, seizures, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or Alzheimer's disease. Resveratrol and polyphenols found in grapevines have shown beneficial effects as anti-aging compounds by modulating the characteristics of aging (oxidative processes, inflammatory processes, shortening of telomeres, and cells).

5. Grapefruit is a summary

Not only do grapes taste good, but they also have a number of health benefits that have been suggested by many scientific papers. They are of great importance in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. Interestingly, not only fresh fruit, but also juice and oils are beneficial for health. Because of their richness in vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols, grapes have a very positive effect on the human body, so it's definitely worth incorporating them into your diet.
