Why it's worth eating in company

Most important celebrations take place at a well-appointed table. Can this affect our health? We eat to improve our mood, express our feelings, build relationships and bond. But these days, we have less and less time to celebrate our meals together, we eat them in haste and solitude. Food not only satisfies hunger and provides nutrients, it also serves many other important functions.

1. It's a story of meals together

In ancient Greece, especially in Sparta and Crete, syssitia, or the common eating of the main meal in public places, was organized. All eligible citizens were invited to the banquets. Artists and intellectuals gathered to discuss the art of science and politics. The idea of a common feast was well known in antiquity.

Mindful eating can be a way to reduce stress and recognize the signals your body is sending. So even if you are very active, it's a good idea to stop for a moment, meet those closest to you at the table and enjoy the meals you've cooked together.
