Which traditional Christmas dishes are the most valuable

When the first star appears in the sky, you can sit down at a table and enjoy the prepared delicacies, but are they all good for your health? Christmas custom dictates that you taste every dish, to ensure happiness in the coming year.

1. Box composition, nutritional value and properties

It is also known as a sacred dish in the Orthodox religion. Most often this festive dessert is made by the inhabitants of Eastern Poland. Some types also contain milk, cream and candied orange skin. The average portion of the box in the salad is about 250 g, or about 550 kcal. The box and the pasta contain similar ingredients makka, walnuts and honey. However, the addition of nutritional acids is a perpetuating factor, and pasta dough is subject to pasteurization.

Calcium is particularly important (up to 1266 mg/100 g of the product is found in maize). Blue maize, which is one of the main ingredients of box, like other oilseed seeds, is a good source of protein and fat. 100 g of maize provides about 502 kcal, 23.8 g of protein, 43.3 g of fat and 4.2 g of carbohydrates.

There are many types of honey (e.g. lipe, rapeseed, grey, wrinkled, acacia, etc.) and depending on which one is used to prepare the honey, the main sugars in honey are glucose and fructose, which are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. Honey, the next ingredient in honey, is 7080% sugar, 1020% water and vitamins, mineral ingredients, organic acids and phenols.

Because of the above-mentioned ingredients - maize, honey, and nuts - box and pasta are delicious, healthy dishes that are worth tasting during the holidays.

The most calorific during the holidays are various types of toast, most commonly added to pastries. Part of the mayonnaise in the sauce salad can be replaced with natural or Greek yogurt. In addition to preparing the holiday dishes, it is advisable to choose specific culinary techniques cooking in water or steaming, choking or baking. Christmas foods such as pastries, croquettes or eggs are most often prepared with a small, thick wheat flour that contains less fiber and mineral ingredients than whole wheat. It is recommended to discard them in order to save some calorie intake during the family holiday.

6. How many calories do Christmas foods have?

Christmas foods contain a large amount of vegetables, fish, and oilseed seeds that are beneficial to health. What is too much is not healthy, so it is worth trying a few dishes, but in small quantities. It is worth choosing the foods that we like and eating them in reasonable quantities to avoid a festive meal and feeling full. Other foods often appear on the table, such as fruit soup, Russian onions, cassava doughnuts, potato sauce, but not in small amounts.
